Specialty Polymers is looking for creative, curious self-starters and leaders interested in non-routine challenges to join the Technical Development team in EMEA and support several Electronics and Industrial markets. You will be responsible for providing technical application development expertise to customers and will interact with the internal organization (Sales, R&I, Manufacturing, etc.) to develop total customer solutions.We count on youYou will work directly with customers in collaboration with the sales and marketing to identify and develop application opportunities where Syensqo’s specialty polymers add value and solve customer problems.Elicit a complete set of customer requirements and develop the value proposition of Syensqo materials.In this position, you’ll work directly with the global CTD community and our R&I teams, to lead the development and implementation of solutions for customer applications. This includes polymer material recommendation and validation, design support for metal to plastic conversion, prototyping support, tooling design recommendations, testing, and processing assistance.The CTD Engineer provides technical training and literature for both internal and external use about designing with polymers, polymer selection, polymer processing, simulation and prototyping.This position is championing sustainability solutions.Being part of a community implies to collaboratively interact and share expertise with the global CTD team, and create technical marketing literature.For proper connection with customers, you will be willing and able to travel 50-60% of the time.You can count on usThis job will bring long-lasting excellent customer relations, self-dependent working, and a variety of tasks in one of the world’s leading chemical companies.Excellent training and development possibilities are available.You will acquire dynamic market knowledge and competitive landscape understanding.You will get access to flexible work, four (4) days per week either in the office or travelling to visit customers, and one (1) day per week in home office / smart working.You will bringEducation and ExperienceYou are required to have a Bachelor degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, material science, or equivalent applicable technical degree. Advanced degree is preferred. PhD is a plus.Experience in a technical position working with polymers is a plus as well.Ideally, candidates for this position will have real hands-on experience working with polymers in a manufacturing environment (extrusion, injection molding, compression molding). Your mechanical aptitude, experience in part and tooling design and failure analysis is an added value for the position.Direct experience in the relevant E&I industries, i.e. semiconductor, industrial, electronic connectors and sensors applications/customers/tiers is a plus.Fluent in English, French and/or Italian, German is a plus.SkillsThe ability to execute projects with short life cycles is helping project management in this role.Demonstrating the ability to work independently and effectively to build deep relationships with both external customers and within a global Solvay team is needed to effectively contribute to the success of the GBU.In general, the position requires knowledge of polymer physics, material selection, and processing.Strong communication skills, together with customer-focus, are key for the proper connection with internal and external stakeholders.Desired behaviorsThe ideal candidate is definitely technically-oriented and is able to bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication skills to deliver effective solutions to the market.The ability to apply technical knowledge in a customer-facing and commercial environment will allow to develop strong and fruitful customers’ relationships.Excellent project management skills and the ability to analyze data (quantitative, qualitative) will boost new developments and opportunities.You will getCompetitive salary and benefits package, which details will be shared after the interviews and screening process at the moment of the presentation of the offer.Sixteen (16), or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations are included.All employees have access to Solvay training platform, including free language courses (24 languages available).In particular, the candidate for the CTD position will be included in a dedicated mentoring plan to develop the needed knowledge of Solvay solutions.Free well-being sessions (physical and psychological) are available.About us
