General Information Blue Card Latvia

To live and work in Latvia as a highly-qualified worker you may apply for an EU Blue Card.

To qualify for the Blue Card, you must hold a university or college diploma from an educational programme that lasted three years or more.

Prior to the submission of these documents, your employer must have the invitation for a Blue Card approved by the OCMA.

Procedure for Blue Card Latvia

Prior to the application submission, the company representative who invites you has to confirm sponsorship at the office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.

Pre-registration of the job with the State Employment Agency (NVA) in not required, but must attract an annual salary of 1.5 times the national average salary.

Once the employer’s invitation is approved, the migrant submits the application for a Blue Card to the consulate of the Republic of Latvia abroad, which sends the application to the OCMA for evaluation.
