Job description: Phaseform is a recently founded spin-off from the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) of the University of Freiburg in Germany. We are a highly-motivated team of experienced engineers, scientists, business- and marketing experts offering a new and unique way of conducting adaptive optics for the life- and vision sciences.

Tasks

  • Setting up a medium-scale microassembly line
  • Leading internal production and testing
  • Coordinating all outsourced production
  • Supply chain management
  • Technical documentation and quality control

Requirements

  • An MSc/PhD in mechatronics/microsystems/mechanical/electrical engineering or related field, or 3+ years of related industrial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in developing and setting up assembly lines for high-precision manufacturing:
  • Rapid prototyping skills in mechanical/mechatronics design, CNC machining, 3D-printing
  • Experience with hardware programming, interfacing and -control, and the associated programming languages such as Python, C, Java, GNU/Linux

It is considered very desirable if in addition you have:

  • Knowledge in (adaptive) optics, optical design, metrology
  • Hands-on experience with optical components and setups, performing experiments
  • Good understanding of standard clean room processes and microfabrication
  • Prior experience with new product introduction
  • Expertise in quality- and risk management
