Your Role

You will be part of the UAM Engineering Team within the start-up like entity Airbus Urban Mobility GmbH. AUM GmbH has been set up as the central entrepreneur of the UAM organization within the Group and acts as the program for the eVTOL development as well as the system integrator for UAM. In that context, it covers the pillars vehicle, take-off & landing infrastructure and (unmanned) traffic management to prepare the integration in cities and future commercial passenger operations.

From day one you will have a technically challenging and diverse job:

You will be in charge in time, cost and quality of the development, design and manufacturing of the Lift & Thrust Unit (LTU) for the eVTOL UAM aircraft:

Squad leader of a team (around 10 specialist) located in Donauwörth, Marignane & Paris-Le-Bourget for the LTU design and manufacturing activities in the frame of the UAM eVTOL aircraft development (resource management: people, budget and time schedule)

Responsible for the harmonization of the LTU activities, interfaces and requirements with the different stakeholders: MAS (Chief Engineer), squad leaders & program/project management

Follow up of actions and deliverables with several interfaces to other disciplines/metiers

Specification, coordination and analysis of various component (bang tests, stiffness & inertia measurement, fatigue tests) and whirl tower tests for the lifter and pusher rotors

Specification of flight test request & instrumentation and telemetry monitoring activities

Coordination and contribution to the LTU development logic, substantiation for the Permit to Fly (PtF) and certification related activities (exchange with EASA on the SC VTOL regulations)

Documentation of analysis and test evaluation results

In addition you will act as dynamics engineer by

Performing rotor dynamics simulations and analysis including rotor stability, shaft critical speed, whirl flutter, frequency placement, etc. (software: CAMRAD-II)

Performing rotor loads computations and analysis of various flight conditions

Your Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated and applied knowledge in the field of rotor/propeller dynamics and loads mandatory. You have already led the rotor/propeller dynamics and loads domain for an aircraft development from pre-design up to certification

Knowledge in rotor aerodynamics, performance, acoustics and design recommended

Team & Project Management

experience of JIRA software for the planning activities recommended

good Communication skills

Experience in Engineering (more than 10 years)

Educated to a 5 years‘ degree level (or equivalent) in aeronautical engineering or mechanical

Mandatory experience with MATLAB, MS Office

Excellent communication skills, team spirit

Open minded and welcome problem attitude and you bring curiosity

You enjoy a transverse and international environment

Fluent in English, German is desirable
