Job description: In this spirit and in the frame of a new NPI program launched to design, develop and manufacture, in close collaboration with the Customer, the complete Rotor Drive System of a heavy helicopter, we are looking for a talented and experienced design engineer, expected to perform and coordinate design activities related to complex helos rotating partssub-system:
– masts, hubs, rotating controls, composite components
– tail rotor drive shafts system (TRDS)
– engine-MGB link system (high speed input shaft system)
The Helicopter Complex Rotating Parts Design Engineer utilizes expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Provide and strengthen technical knowledge on complex rotating components of helos mechanical transmission (masts, hubs, rotating controls, composite components)

Coordinate and review design activities related to TRDS and input shaft system

Contribute to design sub-system and components identifying alternatives, agreeing upon design CTQs, scoring and down-selecting optimal solution to achieve product performance/cost/weight.

Capture system requirements, flow-down to components definition identifying relevant validation needs

Contribute to issue the technical documents relative to the componentssub-system design according to engineering policies and procedures (presentations as well as analysis reports)

Contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews

Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessments (MRB)

Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation)

Contribute to product development and certification identifying relevant validation needs and providing technical substantiation according to company policies and procedures and Regulatory Agencies requests

Qualifications/Requirements

Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university or demonstrated experience in Mechanical Design of complex aeronautical gearbox components

Proven knowledge on complex rotating components of helos mechanical transmission (masts, hubs, rotating controls, composite components)

Knowledge of aeronautical power gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies

Knowledge of manufacturing processes for rotating components (masts, shafts, hubs, rotating controls, composite)

Previous experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction process

Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX) and CAE tools (e.g. Ansys, Nastran)

Clear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented

Strong problem-solving skills

Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities

English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral

EU work permit

Desired Characteristics

Previous experiences in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
