Job title: Data Analyst, Stockholm

Company: Blocket

Job description: If you are the kind of person who believes the answers to business growth and product development are found in data. If a love relationship with data also extends to spreading the word on Data Culture; then hello there! Blocket is looking for you.

We are convinced it’s a match made in data heaven (all our analytics services in the cloud. Pun intended!). We can offer huge amounts of data to work with: 5 million users every week contribute to an endless supply of data and insights. Every week, every day, all year long. Your mission, together with the rest of the Insight & Analytics team, is to collaboratively drive a data-first culture across Blocket. With such a mission we contribute to endless opportunities for everyone while at the same time reducing the carbon footprint for the people of Sweden. That is creating WOW!

We are Blocket, Sweden’s largest and most popular marketplace with around 12,3M monthly active users generating over 100 million sessions. We are proud of our impact on second-hand trade in Sweden, enabling more sustainable ways of shopping. Want to get a feel of the Blocket vibe? Check us out on Instagram & LinkedIn and read more on Begagnateffekten!

What you’ll be up to

In the Insight & Analytics team you will analyze transactional, user behavior and traffic data to manage our performance, drive our development of products and features and inform decision making. In short – make sure we can grow our marketplace based on data.

As a Data Analyst, you will support and work closely in cross-functional teams with colleagues from Finance, Product, UX/Design, Marketplaces and Developers – pretty much everyone. We contribute and work close to the heartbeat of our Business. You will perform analysis on large sets of data to extract actionable insights that will help drive decisions across the business – in discovery and ideation work. Since we are an essential part of almost everything going on in Blocket, being very infectious with your data driven mindset is key to keep all parts of Blocket aligned.

Since Blocket has a wide variety of products with a massive reach among the Swedish people (remember – 5 million each week!) your work will have a direct impact on how our users do second-hand business, while creating a more sustainable world. What a win-win-win situation!

Who you are

You have experience from taking an active role in projects, guiding the rest of the project team through analytical approaches and combining it with a strong business sense. You have experience from the Data Science field in general, i.e. Statistics, Data Wrangling, Descriptive analysis, Data Visualization and Experimentation. As a person, you find it easy to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders regardless of domain knowledge. You take pride in communicating data and insights in an appetizing and visual way, as well as have a flair for switching between details vs. overview to navigate the fairly complex business landscape.

To put it bluntly; you see the business in data! We let our values guide us on our journey by collaborating, taking responsibility, being brave, moving fast and creating a lot of WOW along the way. With your knowledge of how to turn vast amounts of data into actionable and inspiring insights – you will take our understanding of marketplace user behaviour to the next level.

  • Experience with data and statistical analysis (we use Python & R)

Hello, I am Ismail

I help companies to take better business decisions through data analysis. I torture data until it confesses! Being a Data Analyst at Blocket has allowed me not only to use my engineering mindset to solve technical problems but also creating real value to the company mainly on the product and business fronts. Having the opportunity to work at one of the most used products in Sweden, has given me the chance to learn much more about life than it is about data: How do our users behave in our products? Do we see different user segments across different parts of Sweden? How can we better target our users that are aligned with their tastes and preferences?…

The culture in the team is unmatched and I have the ability to collaborate with amazing colleagues all while having fun. Within the team, diversity is king, not only from the cultural perspective, but also from the technical skills point of view. That helps me to discuss with my colleagues pretty much anything I am curious about in the data science field.

Transforming data into insights is a long enjoyable funnel where I always had the opportunity to meet different people in different positions within the company (Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Top Managers…) which has created a lot of variations in my day to day work and helped me to learn from different people in the organization.

Hi, I am your new manager!

My name is Lukas and I’ve been with Blocket for about 4 years. I’ve worked in analytical and data related roles throughout my entire career, although the contexts have changed over the years. My goal as a manager is to create the best possible conditions for our team to thrive. I try to keep a personal touch in my leadership, strive for a transparent and feedback oriented culture. Honestly, I don’t spend as much time „hands-on“ with data as I would like, but I cherish the limited time I get to do that immensely. When I’m not working I try to spend as much time as I can with my family (4 daughters and wife) but try to squeeze in as much time on my skateboard/snowboard or in the saddle exploring the unpedaled roads on my bike. I do bring out the guitar for birthdays and live music quizzes now and then, motivation rather than talent, though. Anyways, come join our team, it will be loads of fun! 🙂

Interested in joining the Blocket world?

We look forward to hearing from you! Send your CV or apply with your LinkedIn-profile and let us know what makes you tick. We would love to get to know you a bit better! Questions – feel free to reach out to

PS: Due to the pandemic situation in the world, we are currently not offering relocation or work permit help.
